On: Netanyahu, Kushner agree US general to verify Hamas disarmament before Israel...

18 August 2026.

Netanyahu seeks a general from across the sea to verify the disarmament of his enemies. He believes he has found a clever way to delay his departure while appearing to seek peace. But he is inviting a foreign hand to hold the scales of his own security. History shows that when the Swiss were called into Italy to settle the disputes of princes, they did not leave until they had tasted the fruit of the land and realized the weakness of those who summoned them.

This American general is a mercenary in spirit, if not in name. He does not fight for the survival of the Israeli state or the liberation of the Gazan people; he fights for the prestige of his own republic and the instructions of his distant master. To rely on a third party to verify the strength of your enemy is to admit you can no longer see or strike that enemy yourself. It is a confession of exhaustion.

The Prime Minister acts the part of the fox, weaving a web of conditions to keep his boots on the ground. Yet he forgets that a fox who stays too long in the trap he set for others eventually starves. If Hamas truly disarms, they do so because they have no other choice, not because a foreign officer counts their rifles. If they do not, no amount of American verification will prevent the next strike.

A healthy republic relies on its own arms and its own eyes. By outsourcing the judgment of victory to a foreigner, Netanyahu weakens the foundation of his own authority. He has built a fortress of diplomacy, but he is becoming its prisoner. Fortune favors the decisive, not those who hide behind the signatures of envoys. He should finish the work himself or admit it cannot be finished; to wait for a general from Washington is to wait for a flood to dry by command.
